How much weight do I need to weigh for stomach reduction surgery?

How much weight do I need to weigh for stomach reduction surgery?

How much do I weigh for this surgery?

This is perhaps the most frequently asked question.

A patient’s weight (BMI) is the main factor in determining whether they can undergo the procedure, but it’s not the sole determinant.

In other words, if you’re underweight, you definitely can’t undergo bariatric surgery.

Even if your weight is above the specified threshold, that doesn’t mean you can definitely undergo the surgery. This decision is entirely based on the doctor’s assessment of various factors.

Many factors, including the patient’s previous surgeries, medications, perspective, expectations from the surgery, age, psychological/psychiatric status, discipline, and even doctor-patient trust, can determine whether the surgery is warranted.

As I always say, bariatric surgery isn’t a procedure you can have today and have tomorrow.
